Sit down with a cup of chamomile tea and lets chat about the benefits and uses of chamomile tea.

Chamomile flowers are widely known for being a very powerful herb for the nervous system but they are also very gentle. The combination of their extremely effective volatile oils as well as the ability to be used over a long period of time without negative side effects has brought chamomile flowers into common use worldwide. Chamomile is a commonly known herb that is consumed as a tea by many people, but lets look at 10 reasons WHY it has been raised to this level of popularity.  I think you will be surprised that chamomile tea has many more uses than just a bedtime tea!

1 - Chamomile is calming to the nervous system and can act as a very effective sedative. People often think of this as a bedtime tea (which is definitely is good for that too) but I regularly drink chamomile teas during the day to help calm me down and get me focused! Sometimes my nerves get the best of me and I cant get back on track. That is where chamomile shines!

2 - Chamomile is very helpful to relieve indigestion. Indigestion can be caused by a numerous amount of things including eating or drinking too much, eating something that just doesn't agree with your body, and possibly even the early signs of a tummy bug. Indigestion can also be the sign of a deeper issue like stomach ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, and plenty of other culprits which is why it is important to sooth and calm those issues and not irritate them further! Have a cup of tea and if the problems persist then you know its not just because you ate too much at dinner but often times the tea will help sooth and calm the indigestion and get you back on track!

3 - Chamomile is a good preventative for nightmares. Due in part to its calming ability, this soothing tea is fantastic to calm the chatter in the brain and help drift you off to a quick and peaceful sleep. So if you or someone you know struggles with nightmares, definitely go for chamomile tea before bed! I recommend drinking a glass an hour before bed, 30 minutes before bed, and another right at bedtime. If done on a regular basis, this routine will help bring about peaceful dreams!

4 - Chamomile is helpful to prevent and ease heartburn. Heartburn/Acid reflux can be caused by a number of different things, but the fact of the matter is that it is terribly uncomfortable and when you have it you just want it to stop! So sip on a cup of chamomile tea! The chamomile tea has a calming effect that helps stop the burning pain so it doesn't move up from your stomach into the middle of your chest and into your throat!

5 - Chamomile tea is an excellent remedy to get rid of the good ol' flatulence. Ya, this is difficult to put any other way than "It can prevent and ease the gas". This is one reason that I like to serve chamomile tea after meals. Especially when combined with other herbs like peppermint and ginger, this is a very affective drink to help sip on and sooth many parts of the digestive system and help prevent you or your guests from the discomfort of "the stinky stinks"!

6 - Chamomile tea is excellent to help bring back an appetitie. If you or your child has been sick and just cant get back on a regularly eating routine, this is a great tea to sip on!

7 - Chamomile is soothing for inflammatory pain. Inflammation can come from many culprits, but it almost always brings pain right along side! By reducing the swelling and congestion, chamomile can help calm and reduce the pain! Whether its a chronic inflammation of the joints like arthritis or a single incident like a sprained ankle, chamomile can help reduce the inflammation and sooth the pain.

8 - Chamomile tea can kick the headache! If you feel a headache coming on, go for a soothing cup of chamomile tea before popping some pills! I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

9 - Chamomile tea is a fantastic friend that can help prevent diarrhea. Never be caught without some chamomile tea in the cabinet when you have the sudden and unexpected arrival of the diarrhea bug!

10 - Chamomile tea is a great remedy for nausea! Nausea can be brought on by anything from the stomach flu or motion sickness to eating too much or food poisoning. This unbearable discomfort doesn't always lead to vomiting, but in the moment you sure do feel like it is the only option for relief!

There is a whole host of uses for chamomile tea besides it being a sleepy time tea. So grab some chamomile to have on hand at your next meal. It is a fantastic beverage for all sorts of preventative health needs! There are many more uses for chamomile tea, but start with bringing it in to help you with these 10 and you will be a huge chamomile tea fan before you know it!
