Cottage Breakfast! This was one of my favorite blends to create because I love a good black tea in the morning! I am very sensitive to caffeine so I would have to be careful to not work on this blend into the afternoon or else I would be up all night! I sourced quite a few different black teas to try and find the perfect combination and I finalized this blend with a combination of 4 different black teas from various regions around the world. My desire was to have a smooth and full flavored black tea but also bring in rich, robust, and malty notes. These 4 different black teas work together perfectly to bring Cottage Breakfast into the Collection July 2014 as our signature breakfast blend. Try this blend with a bit of cream to see some new flavor notes step out! And remember with black tea you don’t want to steep it more than 3 minutes and this will help you avoid any bitterness!
Earl Grey - Artisan Loose Leaf Black Tea (Caffeine) – Organic
Smooth black tea with refreshing overtones of bergamot for a classic Earl Grey brew.
A perfect and energizing way to start the day! It is definitely one of my favorites! I worked on this blend for quite a few years to find the perfect balance of different black teas to make it the right balance of light and malty. I also took my time to find the perfect balance of bergamot for a refreshing Earl Grey experience with just enough bergamot to liven the taste buds, but not too much that you want to spit it out, like some Earl Grey teas I've tried! I finalized this blend in January of 2016, but we only sold it to our wholesale customers for a few years until the end of 2018 when we finally moved it into a retail jar and gave customers the option to buy it to brew at home! I love the full leaf teas in this blend and the premium bergamot which allows you to brew the same leaves multiple times and still get the fullness of flavor! This is one of my go-to morning teas and I often even have it with a little cream - based on the suggestion of a wonderful British gentleman I met while serving tea at an event years ago who said in shock “You can’t drink Earl Grey without cream!”. A rich and robust blend of golden-tipped Yunnan teas for a mild and smoky brew! I created Backwoods Armory in May of 2014 out of a desire for a robust black tea that still had a very smooth and soft feel. I worked to create this blend for about a year. I sourced as many different black teas as I could find and worked with different ratios to have some that contributed to the bold flavor and other to contribute to the soft feel in the mouth. When I finally created this blend, I knew it was the one because I drank way too much of it because it was so good and I couldn't stop! I also have found that Backwoods Armory is fantastic iced!! It makes such a delightful iced tea that has more flavor and complexity than any iced black tea you will ever try!
